Congratulations to the 37 CIM graduates of the Spring 2012 class!

May grads…if you haven’t yet gotten me your Graduate Information Sheet, please do so ASAP or you may fill out this form online to get the information to me electronically. This will assure that you continue to receive job postings if you are still seeking employment, or that your employment information is available on our alumni database online if you are employed.

New this Spring, for those of you still seeking, send me a general resume and I can post online, too. If you have specific desires of what type of job, what side of the industry, or what geographic location in which you are seeking employment, I’m glad to include that information along with the resume. I will put the resumes both in a resume book that I can send to employers as well as linked next to your name on the alumni database online.

Habitat for Humanity formwork

On Friday, March 30th approximately 15 CIM students helped start a new house project at 430 State Street.

ACI Bowling Ball Competition – 1st place!

The MTSU CIM team won first place out of 36 engineering schools at the ACI International Concrete Competition in March in Dallas, Texas. They submitted their concrete bowling ball design targeted to a specific weight and strength, they also had to bowl three rolls. The winning team was made up of CIM students Melanie Dennis, Morgan Dennis, Dylon Fuller, Michael Stropoli, and Alex Snow. Melanie and Morgan Dennis, along with Dr. Jerry Morton, were at the competition to represent their team and CIM.

AGC helping on MTSU Habitat for Humanity

Early in February several CIM students assisted AGC and MTSU with a Habitat for Humanity project for Ms. Yvonne Summers in Murfreesboro.

We’re heading to World of Concrete!

January 23-27th, the CIM Department will be sparse with several staff members and students heading to the annual World of Concrete in Las Vegas! The products, education, and networking at this conference are invaluable, however this event is important to CIM for another reason. During the conference, an auction is held to raise money for the five CIM programs across the nation. This fundraiser is how the CIM National Steering Committee is able to supplement our department, providing for student trips, lab equipment, and research projects.
